Bright blue skies. Fields as far as the eye can see. And a table set for 272. That was the scene at Araxi’s Longtable Dinner, hosted at the stunningly beautiful North Arm Farms in Pemberton. As it’s one of the hottest tickets in town, The Wanderlust Report was lucky enough to be invited to attend this al fresco dinner.
While the fact that summer is ending feels bittersweet, there couldn’t have been a better way to say goodbye to our favourite season than with friends old and new, dining on a stellar five-course meal served out in the fields of a working farm. With Araxi’s Executive Chef James Walt at the helm, the dinner was the very essence of farm-to-table, from B.C. albacore tuna to Pemberton Meadows beef. The full menu included:
Lastella Vivace Pinot Grigio 2014
❖
Squash blossoms stuffed with Dungeness crab and Salt Spring Island cheese, accompanied by burrata
Le Vieux Pin Ava 2013
❖
Organic, 60-day aged sirloin beef with red wine & herb-braised cheeks, pressed potatoes and heirloom carrots
LaStella Fortissimo 2013
❖
Lemon tarts, chocolate strawberry hand-crafted ice cream bars, a mix of macarons and pâte de fruits
Quails’ Gate Botrytis Optima 2014
Between the elaborate menu, great company, beautiful sunset and the breathtaking surroundings, Araxi’s Longtable Dinner was one of those special summer nights that you will wistfully remember in the depths of winter. Already counting down until next year!
